Book 15: Sam Is Mad New Words mad - Decodable that - Special Word Plot Summary Mit the Chimp makes a paper-bag lion mask and puts it over his head. He pretends to be Sam the Lion and teases the other animals. Sis, Nan and a new character, Baby Bear, see through Mit’s disguise and are angry at his tricks. Sam is the angriest when he discovers Mits’ impersonation of him. Finally, Mit drops the mask and tells the animals that Sam is the real lion. Thinking Hats can be found in schools, businesses and a wide range of industries. I have created a set of resources for Key Stage 2 resources to use with almost any reading book. The worksheets are not linked to any book or any particular reading scheme and can be used more than once. These worksheets allow students to examine the same book from 6 different angles and so get a lot more from their reading experiences. These worksheets also provide a real reason to read their books carefully. I have used Thinking Hats a lot in the classroom and have found them to really motivate students to read more. These worksheets can also be used as a useful homework worksheet resource.

ESL Bingo pack: This is a simple starter game for students. There are 114 different pictures to choose from. Select a single picture and project the image on the wall or share it with the class as a handout. Let's Talk in ESL!: This set of cards looks at 57 different settings. The teacher describes something in the top card. The students then use this to model a sentence using the bottom set of pictures. There are lots of things to see and describe in every picture. When the students have completed this task, they can repeat it by working in pairs to discuss each picture. Let's Write in ESL pack: There are lots of ways of using this teaching pack. It could be used as writing assessment for students learning ESL. The students could write about a topic in ESL before and then after a topic, using the second worksheet at the end of the topic. * Please note - these resources provide visual prompts, not specific language instruction.
